# FiletypeGroup

The **FiletypeGroup** object represents a file type group (as configured in the [File Type Groups](https://chaoses-ib.gitbook.io/directory-opus/manual/file_types/file_type_groups) section of the [file type editor](https://chaoses-ib.gitbook.io/directory-opus/manual/file_types)). You can find out which groups a file belongs to by querying the [**Item**](https://chaoses-ib.gitbook.io/directory-opus/manual/reference/scripting_reference/scripting_objects/item).groups property, or by using the [**FiletypeGroups**](https://chaoses-ib.gitbook.io/directory-opus/manual/reference/scripting_reference/scripting_objects/filetypegroups) object.

This object can be enumerated to retrieve the file extensions it represents.
